2009parosnsordeasmallBrothers,

The April Ordeal is only eight days away, and we are still looking for four to five Elangomats to take part of the inductions process! Do you remember your ordeal? Do you remember the young man in a white sash leading you through the day? How would you like to be that person that will stick in the minds of the candidates for many years? Trust me friends, it is an amazing experience that you should experience. If you would like to sign up all you have to do is go to the "Online Registration" tab on the top right side of this page and click Ordeal Registration. Then you will need to select "Elangomat" from the staff list.

At this point you will find a nice surprise; you will see that your registration cost has dropped to, not $10.00, not $5.00, but FREE!

Make sure to register this week so that we can give our chef an accurate number of people to purchase food for!

Torin Bergsma

VigilHonorTriangleBrothers,

Once again comes a very special time of the year for our Lodge. The month of April is the time for us to select the 2014 T'Kope Kwiskwis Vigil Honor Class, but we can’t do it without you! If you have someone in mind that has lived the scout oath and law in their lives, has been a brotherhood member for at least two years, and has paid their dues for this year then you should write them a nomination letter for this high honor. If you would like to write a letter to nominate a fellow scout they must be delivered to the council office by April 23, as no letters will be accepted after that date. All letters should be marked with “Vigil Selection Committee” clearly in the address. Letters can be hand delivered or sent through the US Postal Service.

To include in you nomination letter:

  • A short history of a brother's scouting history
  • Their involvement with the Order/Unit/ Camp Staff
  • How they live the scout oath and law in their lives
  • Why you think they should be considered for this honor

Thank you for a life of cheerful service!

Yours in Service,

Torin Bergsma

Lodge chief 2013-2014

Congratulations to our Lodge Brother, Mr. Toby Capps. Toby is one of the recipients for the 2014 Silver Buffacappstlo Award.

“Created in 1925, the Silver Buffalo Award for distinguished service to youth is awarded to those persons who give noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth. This Award is Scouting’s highest commendation of the invaluable contributions that outstanding Americans make to youth”.

Toby has provided a lifetime of service to not only the Order of the Arrow, but Boy Scouts of America as well. We are extremely proud of this recognition of his cheerful and selfless service. Well done!

The Silver Antelope hayashikenAward was created in 1949 to recognize those outstanding leaders for their service at the Regional level.  Our Lodge Brother Ken Hayashi has been recognized for a lifetime of cheerful service to the Order of the Arrow and Boy Scouts of America.  Our congratulations and thanks to Ken.

Brothers, the biggest Order of the Arrow event of the year is quickly approaching. Conclave is a chance to meet new friends from lodges close and far and rock out to awesome shows, get informed training and have an awesome weekend of fun. Register now at http://sectionw1n.org !

Brothers, each year the Order of the Arrow does many great things for councils around the nation and for the youth of the Order. However to keep this program going strong, we require members to pay dues once a year. If you, or someone you know hasn't paid their dues for this year, please do so at http://www.tkopekwiskwis.org

Sunyakwa is getting ready for Camporee!

This year’s Sunyakwa Camporee is coming up so get ready for a weekend of fun. Each patrol will be tested on their survival skills. You will be tasked to complete a series of challenges that will determine who has the most skilled and efficient patrol. These challenges include the construction of a fire for warmth, the identification of poisonous plants, the shooting of a bow to take down threatening predators, and the setting of traps to enjoy a meal before the day turns to night. Come to Camp Pigott from May 2nd to the 4th to experience an incredible time with your friends and fellow scouts.

Sunyakwa Lock-In

Sunyakwa lock-in a huge success! This January the Sunyakwa chapter gathered together for a night of fellowship and brotherhood, where the grand T’kopekwiskwis "Apples to Apples" tradition was well represented.  The JUBILEE Reach center in Bellevue generously donated their space for this amazing event. Special thanks also to the Sunyakwa chapter adults who volunteered their time and pulled close to an all-nighter for the chapter.
