ceremonialists_01On the weekend of April 19th the lodge hosted a three day gala event to open the new longhouse at Camp Pigott.

The weekend started with a member's only program Friday night. The audience was treated to a retelling of the legend of the Order by the members of the Lodge's Ceremonies, Dance and Storytelling Team. The lodge unveiled a new blanket set to commemorate the dedication and other ceremonial items. There were speeches and performances of some of the Lodge's songs and dances. The evening capped off with an unforgettable Brotherhood ceremony; one of the first in the new building.

mike_and_delAt the break of dawn on Saturday saw almost 100 Vigil honor members gather for a special meeting of reflection and inspiration. Saturday was filled with fellowship and service to get ready for the big ribbon cutting.
Saturday's events included the planting of the Del Loder tree at the Longhouse site, a special blessing from members of the local native community, the actual ribbon cutting and special time for speeches and reflections on the project and the new building.

The day's events built into a crescendo as families and guests arrived for the Salmon dinner and final Saturday night show where we thanked the donors and the people who made the building possible.

A sincere thank you to all the donors and the Longhouse Construction Committee whose efforts over the past 12 years made this dream a reality.

Thank You

lodge_chief_cutting_zee_ribbonThe opening letter from the Lodge Chief:

My Brothers!

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our new ceremonial Longhouse!

Over ten years ago we began this journey to rebuild our longhouse. It has been a rough, steep and sometimes faint trail. We have endured many trials and tribulations, false starts and challenges. But we have endured; our patience and service has now borne fruit! So now I implore you: take the time to celebrate our new longhouse, forge memories and lets us begin writing the next chapter in the T'Kope Kwiskwis story.

I congratulate all who will receive their brotherhood tonight in this most special ceremony. For us fortunate ones the entire weekend will be a special story we will be able to tell generations of Arrowmen who will come after us. Tell them we were here. Tell them of the service it took to create this building. Tell them of the excitement, the cheerfulness, and the brotherhood. Inspire them and make them wish they too were a part our glorious journey.

Yours in the Brotherhood,

Reuben Steelquist

1990s_ext_webOn the afternoon of Saturday June 16th the lodge held an auction to raise funds for the new Longhouse at camp Pigott. Over one hundred lodge members were there that weekend to support the efforts. Every auction item was donated and because of these gifts we were able to raise $10,849.00 from the live and silent auctions!

Not only was our goal exceed for the afternoon but the $10,849.00 been doubled by our generous matching program. We were able to raise an amazing $21,698.00 for the new longhouse through the auctions!

We would like to thank Lodge Chief Ian B. who provided the vision and scheduled the auction. Thank you to all our winners and to our donors. Thank you to our auctioneer former Lodge Chief and Lodge Adviser Larry Garret. Finally we would like to thank our staff that helped put on the auction including; John R who ran the silent auction, Beth C for editing the catalog and with Donna D, Helen Y, ran the administration and checkout.

lh_day_1On Saturday June 16th Lodge Chief Ian B and Lodge Adviser Select Mike Gaylord made THE announcement we have all been waiting for; all the permits are in hand and sufficient monies have been raised to begin construction!

Last week that happened.

The construction on the new longhouse at Camp Pigott has begun!

The process started with digging the main utility trench that will carry water, electricity and data to the longhouse building site. Construction will last most of the summer and fall and since the location is away from camp it will not affect scouts attending Camp Pigott this summer. Construction is expected to be finished around the first of the year.

Congratulations to the Lodge and all who helped make this dream... into a reality.

Even though the permits are in and the construction has begun we are still raising funds for the project to cover incidentals, cost overruns and proper finishes for the new building. Once the building is finished, the Supreme Chief of the Fire has authorized the creation of an endowment to fund the maintenance and care of the new building. Any monies leftover after construction will go into this fund.

Receive peace of mind knowing that you aided in the construction of the new longhouse. Be recognized as one of those who helped! Donate Today!

As you might know, the Longhouse is entering the final phase of permitting and fundraising. After years of effort, the process is nearly complete, but we still need your help to push us over the top.

To help support the Longhouse effort, T'Kope Kwiskwis Lodge will be holding an auction during Spring Fellowship. Ever seen an original copy of Edmund Meany's book of poetry from 1911? Been looking for a complete set of Longhouse patches? How about one week in a luxury resort condominium in Orlando or Hawaii? Come for your chance to bid on a number of unique items and experiences in both the silent and live auctions. Every dollar that we raise will be matched, meaning your contribution goes even further to making our Lodge goal a reality.

The auction is on the afternoon of June 16th at Camp Pigott. The silent auction will end around 1:30, with the live auction following shortly. Your advanced registration of $10 will include dinner that evening. Registering at the door will be $25.

A full catalogue of auction items will be available on the Lodge website in the coming days. If you are interesting in donating, or for more information, contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
