On a dark and stormy night in October over 100 Arrowmen, family and friends gathered at the Annual Order of the Arrow Recognition Banquet.
Trent A., 2015-16 Lodge Chief, inducted the new officers and was thanked by Torin Bergsma for his service. Nathan Lee, the stand in Keynote Speaker, gave an inspirational speech on his life as an Arrowman. After inductions and service recognition by the respective vice-chiefs the 2016 Vigil Honor class was recognized.
Then the moment when we tried to guess who was being described as the James E. West Fellowship and the Founder’s Awards were presented.
Please join me in congratulating:
Austin Springman – James E. West Fellowship Award
Nathan Lee and Bob Meneghini – Founders Award
The Founder's Award was created in 1981 by the National Order of the Arrow Committee to honor and recognize those Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to their lodge. The award is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates to his fellow Arrowmen that he memorializes in his everyday life the spirit of achievement as described by OA's founders E. Urner Goodman and Carroll A. Edson.
While the Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction, the Founders Award is used to recognize those Arrowmen, youth and adult, who have impacted the Lodge in a positive and lasting way. This is a rare and distinguished honor, to recognize the spirit of our Founders in another.
